Trump slams ‘disgraceful’ FBI raid of lawyer’s office: ‘It’s an attack on our country’

President Trump blasted the FBI and special counsel Robert Mueller Monday for raiding the offices of his lawyer, Michael Cohen.“It’s a disgraceful situation,” the president told reporters. “It’s an attack on our country… what we all stand for.”Mr. Cohen has drawn scrutiny for his payment of $130,000 in hush money to porn actress Stormy Daniels, who alleges a brief sexual encounter with Mr. Trump in 2006.The president called the special counsel’s team “the most conflicted group of people I have ever seen.”“I have this witch hunt constantly going on,” Mr. Trump said.He also criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself in the special counsel’s Russia probe, and said no one “is looking at the other side,” referring to Hillary Clinton’s emails and “many, many” other things.http  Read more...

House Probe Accuses Clapper of Misleading Congress
The finding suggests the FBI improperly charged Flynn. The Obama administration also failed to notify the Trump campaign that members of the campaign were assessed to be counterintelligence concerns, the report said. The committee said opposition to Trump from the U.S. national security establishment prompted the campaign to hire unqualified aides such asGeorge Papadopoulous and Carter Page.Trump advisers had contacts with the pro-Russian Wikileaks, but none were involved in the theft or publication of Clinton campaign emails, the report said.On the former DNI, the report says that Clapper, now a contributor to CNN as a national security analyst "provided inconsistent testimony to the committee about his contacts with the media, including CNN."

By Anggy Polanco and Isaac Urrutia

SAN CRISTOBAL, Venezuela (Reuters) - Venezuela imposed electricity rationing this week in six western states, as the crisis-hit country's creaky power grid suffered from a drought that has reduced water levels in key reservoirs needed to run hydroelectric power generators.

The four-hour formal outages began on Thursday. But many residents scoffed at the announcement, wryly noting that they have been suffering far more extended blackouts during the last week."We have spent 14 hours without electricity today. Now, the situation has been exacerbated by dwindling rains. In the worst-hit western cities, business has all but ground to a halt at a time when the OPEC nation  Read more...

-CARACAS (Reuters) - The bus station was like a funeral home. Families were weeping and hugging, saying their goodbyes. Everybody was sad and scared - the ones leaving because they were facing an uncertain future, and the ones staying behind because they were facing muggings, shortages of food and an even more uncertain future.

Hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans migrated elsewhere in South America last year. Reporter Alexandra Ulmer and I wanted to give names and faces to at least a few of them, so we decided to join them in a nearly 5,000-mile bus journey south to Chile.

I hoped that by sharing this journey with my fellow Venezuelans, I could help show the rest of the world what most of us are facing every day.I am no stranger to this daily reality: Friends and family members are leaving; some have been robbed of their few remaining belongings and of their hopes; others have lost their jobs and income. I try to take care of the people closest to me - otherwise, some of them might not eat.-  Read more...
